Friends of the Newburgh Free Library events The Friends of the Newburgh Free Library grew from the concern of people who recognize the importance of a strong library to our community's welfare. As a Friend, you are part of a volunteer group believing in the importance of books, cultural activities and libraries for people of all ages. GOALS ACTIVITIES BOOK FAIR - Held each year on a Sunday in early June, the Friends Book
Fair draws hundreds of bibliophiles from all over. This is the Friends'
major fund-raising activity. Recently the Book Fair was expanded to feature
entertainment, plant and bake sale, children's activities and community
displays. ART SHOW - Every Spring the Friends offer a non-juried art show open to all artists in the area. Artists compete for awards in several categories including Best of Show. This popular art show brings in new visitors to the Library and showcases local talent. PROGRAMS AND MATERIALS - Funds raised by the Friends are used to help support activities such as the Summer Reading Program for children, and cultural programs and for materials such as books on tape, videos and new titles.
